You are so correct. Invest in excellent dividend paying equities and reinvest the dividends to buy more shares until you want to live off the dividends.
My best include: BTI, IBM, MO, ORI (specials ), VZ, T, O, MAIN, CSWC, HTGC, TRIN, PDI, PDO, PFN, AARC, DUK, SO. I’m sure you also have some of these! GLTA
At 72 and 80, the key question is whether CSWC’s quarterly income, together with Social Security, covers the shortfall without requiring share sales. With a position this large, it helps to have a clear plan for income and risk.
CSWC is a BDC . Keep in mind BDCs by law produce ordinary dividned. So you are paying significantly more in taxes than you do with QQQI and SPYI. In fact withQQQI and SPYI ROC dividends you have likely not paid any taxes on the dividned income.
Aditianlly you are taking single stock risk. And you have less diversification than you get with a ETF. You better off sticking to dividned funds. Now if you want BDC dividends in your portfolio I would invest in PBDC. It is a ETF that holds abou
Unlike QQQI and SPYI , CSWC pays a pretty well fixed distribution every quarter regards of market price ( current .64 per share) . I am riding it out and DRIPing.
