Summary

This bill authorizes the Secretary of Agriculture to allow electrical utilities to cut and remove trees or other vegetation near power lines on National Forest System land without requiring a separate timber sale, under certain conditions. Sec. 2, Permits and agreements with electrical utilities: The Secretary may include permission in special use permits or easements for utilities to cut and remove trees or vegetation near distribution or transmission lines, as long as it is consistent with the applicable land and resource management plan and other environmental laws. If the utility sells any of the removed material, it must give the proceeds to the Secretary, minus transportation costs, but the bill does not require the sale of any removed material.
