- Trial Phase
- Preclinical
- Time to Market
- Unknown — still preclinical. Pipeline-readiness milestones toward Phase 1 are "subject to funding" and no IND has been filed. Realistically 4+ years away from potential commercialization if ever advanced.
- Why 1/10
- ELI-008 is a preclinical-stage program with no IND filed, no clinical trials registered, and no scheduled binary catalyst in the next 12+ months. The company's lead asset ELI-002 just failed a Phase 2 study, the stock crashed ~47%, and a dilutive $15M offering was needed just to fund ELI-002's next Phase 1 — funding for ELI-008's advancement is explicitly described as "subject to funding" and uncertain. Impact score is 1 (preclinical/minor program, nothing scheduled).
ELI-008 is too early-stage to drive any material ELTX share-price move in the foreseeable future. The stock's trajectory over the next 12 months depends entirely on the ELI-002 program (can it recover from the Phase 2 miss?), cash position, and survival risk — not on ELI-008. Investors should treat ELI-008 as negligible optionality; the company may never have the resources to advance it to the clinic.

Executive Summary
ELI-008 is a preclinical cancer vaccine from Elicio Therapeutics (Nasdaq: ELTX) that targets p53 gene mutations found broadly across solid tumors. It uses the company's AMP lymph node-targeting platform to stimulate an immune response. While preclinical data at AACR 2024 showed it can induce strong T-cell responses in animal models, ELI-008 has not entered clinical trials, has no IND filed, and its advancement is contingent on funding the company does not currently have. Elicio is in a precarious position: its lead drug ELI-002 failed a Phase 2 pancreatic cancer study in June 2026, the stock lost ~47-72.5% of its value in a single session, and the company had to raise $15M in a dilutive offering (~20% dilution at $3.43/share) just to keep its lead program alive. ELI-008 is negligible optionality for investors — far from any value-driving catalyst.
How It Works
ELI-008 is a cancer vaccine designed to train the immune system to attack cancer cells that have mutations in the p53 gene — a tumor-suppressor gene that is mutated in about half of all human cancers. It uses Elicio's "AMP" technology, which attaches immune-boosting molecules directly to the drug so it gets delivered efficiently to the lymph nodes (the command centers of the immune system). The idea is to generate a strong T-cell response against cancer cells displaying the mutant p53 protein.
Trial Status
ELI-008 has only generated preclinical in-vitro and in-vivo data presented at the AACR Annual Meeting (April 2024) and SITC 2025. No clinical trials have been initiated. The company's Elicio pipeline page lists it alongside ELI-007 as a preclinical program. An IND has not been filed. A BiotechDistilled deep dive (June 2026) notes pipeline-readiness milestones toward Phase 1 are "subject to funding."
The Two-Sided Case
Upcoming Catalysts
- No ELI-008-specific catalysts scheduled. Company-level catalysts include: Phase 1 initiation of ELI-002 7P in combination with checkpoint inhibition in metastatic PDAC (funding-dependent, no date set); potential further analyst actions after the Phase 2 miss; cash runway updates from Q2 2026 earnings.
