- Trial Phase
- Phase 1/2 (discontinued)
- Time to Market
- Never — program discontinued in May 2026; no path to approval.
- Why 1/10
- No hard dated catalyst remains: AMT-162 development was discontinued on May 5, 2026 (announced with Q1 2026 results), so the defining binary has already resolved negatively and the program is a dead asset with no scheduled regulatory decision in the next ~12 months.
AMT-162 is a closed chapter — uniQure (QURE) stopped the program in May 2026 after a dose-limiting toxicity and unfavorable preliminary data, so there is nothing to trade on this drug. QURE stock now trades purely on AMT-130 (Huntington's: UK MAA expected Q3 2026, FDA Type B meeting), AMT-260 and AMT-191, plus a ~10% dilutive June 2026 offering; watch those catalysts, not AMT-162.

Executive Summary
AMT-162 (formerly Apic Bio's APB-102, licensed by uniQure in 2023) was a one-time, intrathecal AAVrh10 gene therapy for SOD1-ALS, an ultra-rare genetic form of ALS. It never got past a small Phase 1/2 trial (EPISOD1): after a positive first-cohort safety review (Jan 2025), enrollment was paused in 2025 following a dose-limiting toxicity, and uniQure officially discontinued development on May 5, 2026 after reviewing data from just five dosed patients. The program is now dead, and its already-small role in uniQure's value is zero; the stock (~$43.63 on 7/31/2026) is driven by the AMT-130 Huntington's program, with analysts still largely bullish (mean price target ~$65.5, strong-buy consensus) and cash of ~$586.6M funding operations into 2H 2029.
How It Works
A one-time gene therapy: a harmless engineered virus (AAVrh10) is injected into the spinal fluid and delivers a piece of genetic code (a microRNA) into cells, instructing them to destroy the messenger RNA of the SOD1 gene. That lowers levels of the faulty SOD1 protein that drives this rare inherited form of ALS.
Trial Status
The Phase 1/2 EPISOD1 open-label US trial (NCT06100276) dosed its first patient October 2024; an IDMC review in January 2025 found no significant safety concerns in the first cohort and cleared dose escalation. Enrollment was later voluntarily paused in 2025 after a serious adverse event judged a dose-limiting toxicity in one patient, and on May 5, 2026 uniQure announced it had discontinued AMT-162 after reviewing preliminary safety/efficacy data from the five patients dosed. Safety follow-up of those five patients continues.
The Two-Sided Case
Upcoming Catalysts
- None for AMT-162 — program discontinued; only ongoing safety follow-up of five dosed patients
- QURE-level catalysts to watch instead: UK MAA filing for AMT-130 expected Q3 2026, FDA Type B meeting on AMT-130 trial design, AMT-260 first-cohort data (due ~June 2026 per Q1 report), AMT-191 updates
