- Trial Phase
- Phase 1/2 (pivotal for accelerated approval)
- Time to Market
- BLA submission planned for Q3 2026; FDA accelerated approval decision likely 6-10 months after submission (potentially H1 2027)
- Why 8/10
- BLA submission for accelerated approval planned for Q3 2026 (~3 months away), the single next hard catalyst. AMT-130 is uniQure's lead value driver, and the FDA has already agreed the 3-year Phase 1/2 data can serve as the primary basis for the filing — making this a high-concentration, near-term binary on the path to becoming the first approved disease-modifying therapy for Huntington's disease.
The BLA submission in Q3 2026 is the key near-term catalyst. The FDA has already aligned on the submission package, but final acceptance and review timelines remain to be seen. Watch for the official BLA filing announcement, PDUFA date assignment, and any FDA Advisory Committee meeting. The $225M June 2026 offering funds commercialization readiness but added ~8% dilution. Analysts are bullish (16 buy vs 5 hold, mean PT ~$64.59, ~47% upside from ~$44).

Executive Summary
AMT-130 is uniQure's investigational one-time gene therapy for Huntington's disease (HD), a fatal genetic neurodegenerative disorder with no approved disease-modifying treatments. In September 2025, the company reported that high-dose AMT-130 slowed disease progression by 75% over 36 months on the primary endpoint (cUHDRS, p=0.003) versus external controls. After a regulatory rollercoaster — the FDA initially rejected the data package in late 2025, then reversed course in June 2026 — the agency now agrees the Phase 1/2 data can support an accelerated approval BLA. uniQure plans to submit in Q3 2026 and also pursue UK approval via the MHRA. With $586.6M in cash (runway into 2H 2029), the company is well-funded. Competition is limited — Skyhawk's oral SKY-0515 is in Phase 2/3 but years behind. Key risks: the Phase 1/2 used external rather than randomized controls, durability of effect beyond 3 years is unknown, and the gene therapy requires invasive brain surgery for administration.
How It Works
AMT-130 is a one-time gene therapy that uses a harmless, modified virus (AAV5) to deliver an artificial microRNA into brain cells. This microRNA is designed to attach to and disable the genetic instructions for making the huntingtin protein — the toxic protein that causes Huntington's disease. By lowering production of this protein in the brain, the therapy aims to slow or stop the disease from getting worse. It is administered through a one-time neurosurgical procedure under MRI guidance, directly infusing the therapy into the deep brain regions most affected by the disease.
Trial Status
Completed enrollment of low-dose (n=26) and high-dose cohorts in US Phase 1/2 trial (NCT04120493); 36-month data published Sept 2025 showing high-dose met primary endpoint with 75% slowing of disease progression (cUHDRS, p=0.003). European trial (NCT05243017) also active. Third cohort with optimized immunosuppression regimen completed enrollment Feb 2025.
