This bill prohibits sharing certain information about federal law enforcement officers with the intent to obstruct, impede, interfere with, or retaliate against them or their lawful duties, investigations, operations, or official proceedings. It also expands the definition of restricted personal information to include physical locations where an officer is or is reasonably expected to be present, whether on or off duty.
Sec. 2, Prohibition on sharing of certain information: This section amends Section 119 of title 18, United States Code, to add a new category of prohibited conduct for covered persons who are federal law enforcement officers. It makes it illegal to share information with the intent to physically obstruct, impede, interfere with, or retaliate against, or to aid another in doing so, any lawful duty, investigation, operation, or official proceeding of the United States involving such officer. It also expands the definition of restricted personal information to include any physical location at which a federal law enforcement officer is or is reasonably expected to be present, whether on or off duty, and defines the terms 'Federal law enforcement officer' and 'immediate family' by referencing Section 115 of title 18.
