Summary

This bill adjusts the boundary of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in California to include the Rim of the Valley Corridor. Sec. 2, Boundary adjustment: The bill updates the legal description of the recreation area's boundary to include two maps: one from August 2001 showing the existing recreation area, and a new map dated April 14, 2023, showing the proposed 'Rim of the Valley Unit' addition. These maps will be available for public inspection at National Park Service offices, and the Secretary may make minor boundary revisions after notifying Congress. Sec. 3, Administration: Any land or interests acquired by the Secretary of the Interior within the Rim of the Valley Unit will be managed as part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area under existing laws and regulations. Sec. 4, Utilities and water resource facilities: Adding the Rim of the Valley Unit will not affect the operation, maintenance, or modification of water resource facilities or public utilities within that area, but any such activities must be conducted to reasonably avoid or reduce impacts on the unit's resources.
