Summary

This bill amends the International Bridge Act of 1972 to streamline the Presidential permitting process for international bridges and land ports of entry. Sec. 2, Permitting for international bridges and land ports of entry: The bill removes a time restriction (December 1, 2020, to December 31, 2024) from the permitting process and expands the types of projects eligible for streamlined permitting to include international bridges between the U.S. and Mexico, between the U.S. and Canada, and ports of entry on the land borders with Mexico and Canada. It adds "or land port of entry" after "international bridge" in several subsections to include these facilities in the permitting process. The bill also specifies that the Secretary shall not compile or consider any environmental documents under the National Environmental Policy Act for a Presidential permit application for an international bridge or land port of entry.
