Summary

This bill extends the deadline for spending certain federal funds on broadband infrastructure projects. It amends the Social Security Act to allow money from the State Fiscal Recovery Fund, Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, and Capital Projects Fund to be used for broadband projects until a later date.

Sec. 2, Extension of deadlines for certain fiscal recovery and critical capital projects funds: The bill changes the rules for three funds. For the State Fiscal Recovery Fund, broadband infrastructure funds can now be spent through September 30, 2027. For the Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, broadband infrastructure funds can also be spent through September 30, 2027. For the Capital Projects Fund, the bill adds a new subsection stating that broadband infrastructure funds can be spent before January 1, 2028, and it renumbers the existing subsection.
