Summary

This bill amends the Public Health Service Act to prohibit a biologic from being classified as a biological product solely because it contains a protein that is a clinically inactive component. Sec. 2, Prohibition with respect to treatment of proteins in biologics: The bill revises the definition of "biological product" in the Public Health Service Act to add a new provision stating that a biologic cannot be treated as a biological product based only on the presence of a protein that is a clinically inactive component in that biologic. It also makes a technical correction by removing a space before a comma in the existing definition.
