Summary

This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend the credit period for the production of refined coal. Section 1, Extension of credit period for refined coal production: The bill changes the time limit for claiming the refined coal production tax credit. Instead of a 10-year period starting when a facility was first placed in service, the credit can now be claimed for refined coal produced before January 1, 2033. It also makes related changes to other parts of the tax code, including removing an old subclause and adding a definition that a modification to a facility must allow it to produce steel industry fuel. The effective date applies to refined coal produced and sold after December 31, 2025.
