Summary

This bill requires federal reports on the environmental and energy impacts of data centers in the United States. The Environmental Protection Agency must report every three months on water consumption, water reuse, effects on local water systems, greenhouse gas emissions, and their cumulative impact on overburdened communities. The Energy Information Administration must collect data every six months on energy consumption by each data center and report every six months on total energy consumption by state, changes in consumption, new data centers, changes in household energy bills, and average household energy use and cost. The term 'data center' is defined by reference to the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.
