Summary

This bill amends title 51 of the United States Code to promote advancements and innovation in U.S. aeronautical research and technology for enhanced safety, noise, resiliency, and improved environmental impacts in aviation systems.

It adds "airship" to the list of aircraft types covered by the Administrator's research objective for aeronautical research and development. It also adds a new approach allowing the Administrator to establish a program of competitively awarded grants available to teams of researchers from universities, industry, and government for conducting this research. Similarly, it adds "airship" to the research objective for noise and emissions research and adds the same grant program approach for that research.
