Summary

This bill amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to deem food containing certain color additives as adulterated. It sets deadlines for when these additives become unsafe for use in food. Sec. 2, Food containing certain color additives deemed adulterated: Starting December 31, 2025, qualified color additives (Citrus Red No. 2, Orange B, and any substantially similar additive) are deemed unsafe for use in food, and any food containing them is adulterated. Starting December 31, 2026, covered color additives (Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Green No. 3, Blue No. 1, Blue No. 2, and any substantially similar additive) are deemed unsafe for use in food, and any food containing them is adulterated. These provisions apply regardless of any existing listing or certification of these additives.
