Summary

This bill creates a tax credit for water reuse projects. It amends the Internal Revenue Code to allow a 30% investment credit for certain water reuse projects.

Sec. 2, Qualifying water reuse project credit: This section adds a new tax credit equal to 30% of the qualified investment in a qualifying water reuse project. The qualified investment is the basis of tangible, depreciable property placed in service as part of the project. A qualifying water reuse project includes installing or modifying an onsite water recycling system in industrial, manufacturing, data center, or food processing facilities; replacing freshwater with recycled water from a municipal provider for production or services; or building or expanding a municipal water recycling system for recycled water. There is a special rule allowing a person to transfer property to a utility and still claim the credit if they have a written agreement. The credit does not apply to property where construction begins after December 31, 2032.
