Summary

This bill amends the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to permanently prohibit oil and natural gas exploration, development, and production in certain areas off the coast of Florida.

Sec. 2, Prohibition of oil and natural gas exploration, development, and production in certain areas off the coast of Florida: The Secretary of the Interior is prohibited from issuing any lease or authorization for oil or natural gas exploration, development, or production in three specific areas: the Eastern Gulf of Mexico area referenced in the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006; the portion of the South Atlantic Planning Area south of 30 degrees 43 minutes North Latitude, as depicted in the 2024-2029 leasing program; and the Straits of Florida Planning Area, as depicted in the same program. This prohibition does not affect any rights under leases issued before the bill's enactment.
