Summary

This bill amends federal law to set a 10-year term of service for Inspectors General and to allow their removal only for cause. Sec. 2, 10 year term of service for Inspectors General; removal only for cause: The bill changes two sections of title 5 of the United States Code. In section 403, it adds that the Inspector General's term of service shall be ten years, and it changes the removal provision so that the Inspector General may be removed from office by the President only for cause. In section 415, it similarly adds a ten-year term of service for the Inspector General and inserts "only for cause and" into the removal provision.
