Summary

This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code to increase the employer-provided child care credit. Sec. 2, Increased credit amount: The credit percentage is changed from a flat 25% to a variable applicable percentage: 40% generally, 50% for eligible small businesses (500 or fewer employees), and 60% for facilities in qualified census tracts (low-income or non-urban areas). The annual credit limit is raised to $1,200,000, and the cap on qualified child care expenditures taken into account is raised to $2,000,000. These changes apply to tax years beginning after enactment. Sec. 3, Multi-employer facilities: The Treasury Secretary must issue regulations on applying the credit to multiple employers jointly acquiring, constructing, or operating a qualified child care facility. Sec. 4, Public awareness: Within one year of enactment, the Treasury Secretary must establish a program to inform taxpayers about the credit and filing procedures.
